Hello from Nottingham, UK.

Post by Jeekay56 »

Hello good people of the ZX World, I come in peace.

My first experience of home computing was with the ZX81 back in 1982, purchased from WH Smith c/w 16k Rampack and a cassette player and a copy of Kevin Toms Football Manager. I lost so much sleep to that game getting Notts County through the leagues (look where they are now, maybe they should have stuck with me  )

I loved my zeddy so much I clothed it in a posh keyboard (Kempston I think). Favourite games from the time were the hi-res titles from Software Farm and a game called High Rise Hive, which I typed in from a magazine listing.

My kids wanted a computer with colour and sound, so I passed my little zeddy on to my brother and we moved on to a Dragon 32. This led to an Atari 800XL, a Commodore 64, a Sony Hit Bit MSX, a ZX Spectrum 48k +, an Atari ST (STFM and STe variants), then on to a 286 PC with green screen, and PCs from that point on.

I'm now retired (the number in my username refers to the year I was born) and have just bought a ZX81 off eBay, I hope to learn Z80 assembly and also enjoy a little retro gaming. I had looked at the RC2014 homebrew kits, but decided to return to my first love.

That's all for now, I'm off to the Hardware forum as I have a couple of questions :D

Cheers,

Graham

If the one you sold had a composite mod and the internal 16k mod it would be one hell of a coincidence. 8-)

Cheers,

Graham

Yep that was me. Not that many people sell refurbed zeddies on eBay very often. I think there is basically me and a guy in Greece. There isn’t much money to be made but personally I enjoy doing it and it is a great subterfuge at home - my wife is used to loads of parcels arriving. ‘Oh, just another computer to do up and sell, Mrs Boffin’. He says while hiding his latest purchase in the attic...
Some members of this forum seem to think I have a factory churning out zeddies. :D
