Hello from Zeeland

Post by MarcNL »

Old Zeeland, not New Zealand.

Hello, I have waaaaay too many computers ― more than is healthy for a normal person.

Ok, you win! You definitely have a problem! :) You also need a QL SD, Maybe the QL Gold card and a zx81 ZXPand to complete your collection of cool stuff.

Only criticism is to put the QL up higher before the clones on your web page lol.

I had the Micromatic when it was new and I was in elementary school, and the TS1000 was my first computer, and the TS268 my second.

Now that you have all the hardware, time to write software!

Welcome to our forums Marc.
Having many Sinclair Computers isn't unhealthy at all.
I hope you use all of them from time to time.
I use Sinclair Computers regularly, most days it's my favourite ZX80.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Obviously I don't use all of them, except when someone has a question about a certain model and I turn it on to verify. Or something like that.
But as you can see in all the photos, they all do work! And I do replace the keyboard membranes even knowing I really don't use the machines. But I would hate to have a collection that is flawed, right?

I don't really understand the QL so there is no need for me to get a Gold Card or a Trump Card. A ZXpand would be nice but it's not on my priority list. The one missing IF1 cartridge or the box for the 2068 Pinball cartridge or the 2 missing 1510 cartridges are higher on the list. Or a cartridge for the Indian dB Spectrum ROM cartridge reader! Don't tell me you never heard of all of those items? 😁

Great to see another Lambda 8300 collector. We have some discussions regarding that machine in the Lambda 8300 section of this forum, from time to time.

My problem is that I wrote too much software. Having many cold-turkey-moments this year since I
am really short in my coding time this year.

It is a standard ZX81.

In 1981, the Dutch import company for Bang & Olufsen celebrated their 20th anniversary and ... well, let the ad speak for itself:

PERSONAL COMPUTER Beocomp ZX-81 Sinclair

An extra extension of your TV as an anniversary offer.

We have thought long and hard about what we could do to give our existing and future B&O customers the most pleasure in this anniversary year. In order to offer you something really special, we end up with a product that is not made by B&O, but which gives your B&O TV (or any other device) an important extra dimension. We offer you one of the best and most versatile computers at a price that puts this fascinating instrument within everyone's reach.
After this, they split off the computer import department and set up a Sinclair and Acorn import company named Compac.
