Many greetings from Germany, I am the new member

Post by Spezzi63 »

I am from Germany,
For a long time, I have been working with my ZX Spectrum machines.
I play very little, but I am very interested in hardware that is useful for the ZX Spectrum.
Many different possibilities, like OPUS, +D, "Simple 8-bit", MB02+, DivIDE, DivMMC I have everything.
Also I have created several useful circuits for my hobby and I like to order boards for them ;)
I am glad to be a member here,
See you soon,
Guenter

Uh oh, am I in the wrong enthusiast forum?

I might have misunderstood it, but I always thought that ZX81 and ZX Spectrum were the same, just with different names. I never had one when I was a boy, but one of my friends did. Now I can't remember if it was one or the other... It had an awful keyboard. And I thought it played with a horrible sound compared to my C64.

Oh, be careful, we don’t have arguments about which was better here.

These forums cover the following Sinclair computers:
  • ZX80
  • ZX81
  • ZX Spectrum (all versions)
  • Z88
  • Clones or near compatible clones of the ZX80 and ZX81
Sinclair released the ZX80 first, then the ZX81, then the rubber key ZX Spectrum 16K, with the 48K. Maybe you should browse through some photos to see the differences.

Are there other forums that also cover some of these? Yes.

I think I got my Z80 machines mixed up. My friend had a Lambda with green keys when we met at school first time (he was the new boy). Lambda was supposedly compatible with a ZX81. Didn't have a lot of games back then. Something like Chess (yuck!). Then he got a Spectrum 48K with a real keyboard. Way better games with more colours and there were many more. We played a lot of Atic Atac, Deathchase and later on, Fairlight and Turbo Esprit, which we thought was unbelievably cool REAL 3d games.
Edit: I remember having them on C64, and both really was god awful slow compared to the ZX version.

My I suggest you start a new topic in the Welcome area, rather than continuing in Guenter‘s topic ;-)
