Watching it excitedly.

The main issue I see is the screen itself; monochrome LCDs that size and resolution don't really exist anymore, and I don't know how other folks feel, but I'm not willing to give up daylight readability like we'd have to with a color LCD or OLED--not to mention the current draw!

Basically, a Z88 has zero attraction to me if it's like a modern laptop.

Now I know I just said I really don't want to give up daylight readability...but through the wonders of direct marketing from China, there is a TFT LCD that fits into the existing case volume nicely and doubles the vertical screen real estate, like so:

Z23 1.png
There's also a TFT LCD that is nearly a drop-in replacement for the original:

Z23 orig 2.png
So uh, where are folks with that FPGA mainboard? I've got the screen and the case design chops!
(apologies for the key-less renders, this was just a mockup to test screen fits)

Can you do a slt file for a bezel with different size screen options? Maybe upload something to thingyverse?

@ okto

What are the specs for the tft lcd that's 'nearly a drop-in replacement'? (ie. how 'nearly' is it? :?: )

I have two Z88s, one with vertical 'jail bars' part way along the screen (Optrex DFN690 - one of the SED1600FAA driver chips is faulty I think). The other has an Epson EG2001S with 'screen cancer'

It would be nice to get one or both of them working properly again.
