Is there a version (maybe very old), which runs with WIN98SE?
I have revived my old Toshiba Libretto 100CT (which has been used for several years as router for my ZX81 web-server) and would like to use it with EO. I am sure, it is fast enough (166 MHz) to emulate a 3,25 MHz Zeddy (maybe not for a 20 MhZ Zeddy :lol: )

Try this...
EightyOne V0.43a.zip
(1.67 MiB) Downloaded 295 times
eyerything will be okay in the end.
if it´s not okay, it´s not the end.

Tried: does not crash on start :mrgreen:
But it wants to have a "DirectDraw.dll"(probably "DirectX 9.0c (June 2006)"). The links to a WIN98 DLL version I already found point to "file not found" or "timeout". :roll:
Its is much easier to run an old Zeddy than to run a much newer (old) PC :roll:

I never saw any reason to keep old windows machines. Just got rid of them.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

After having installed DirectX 9.0c EO 0.43 starts up and now craches with an illegal instuction :ugeek:
But EO 0.52 works :mrgreen:

Here is the result:

Left: Libretto 100 CT, running EO 0.52
166 MHz -> approx 10 frames/sec :roll:

Right: ZX81 (ZXNU)
3.25 MHz -> 50 frames/sec :mrgreen:

I can't speak about Eighty One but I did run the emulator Xtender quite successfully on an even older Toshiba laptop running Windows 3:11Windows for work-groups and Nocash on a 486DX with the same operating system.

On SourceForge I collated all the versions of EightyOne (and their source) I had collected over the years and also those I could find scattered across the Internet. Although I doubted anyone would ever have a use for these very old versions, it seems a shame to lose them. However, the set is far from complete, so if anyone has other old versions filed away then please send them to me and I can add to the SourceForge archive.

Just downloaded V1.8 And for some strange reason I'm unable to get rid of those horrible grey horizontal lines which I think are supposed to emulate old CRT TV's.(they certainly don't)

Tried the F9 key (TV emulation) but no joy now stumped, ideas anyone?

Hmm dunno. You might try deleting the old preferences file. There haven't been any changes that should affect this but there is a lot of magical pixie dust holding EO together in parts so I shouldn't be surprised.

Nope fresh installation on a pc that's never seen Eighty One so no file to delete.

Not a deal breaker will just revert back to 1.7.
