EightyOne 1.14 not recording from cassette?

Messing with archiving my old (1980s) cassettes for my TS1000. Importing them via Audacity works then converting them with wav2p. I see that the emulator EightyOne has a nifty WAV recorder built in? When I try recording it's blank..

Is there a secret to loading real tapes in the emulator or is that "feature" for something else?

Thanks!

Hi,

Just select the "Options > tape > destination > WavLoader".

Open the "Tools > TapeManager" window.

Select "New tape" icon.
Before type SAVE, click on the "Record" icon, at the bottom.
And click on "STOP" when it's over.
Save the record as a new wav file…

Have fun.

Hmm.. Thats what I'm doing. There is never any audio recorded in there.. Just buzzing.

Maybe there is something with my PC (Intel i7/Win7-64). Odd since Audacity works flawlessly via the MIC input.

I will try another PC this evening.

At least I know it's SUPPOSED to work. :)

Never trap the sound throw the "Audio out", to record it on a real cassette…

Make a "wav" to play with a standard medaplayer, and record it throw the era/mic output.

The Windows 'read/record' configuration is tricky to set using MMplay ou other old Windows plugin,

Ok. I built another PC. I have my cassette player plugged into the MIC port on the PC. I run EightyOne1.14 and goto the WAV loader. I select the NEW icon, then I hit the RECORD (red) button on the window. I then press PLAY on my real tape player. Nothing gets captured in the WAV loader. I tried both the MIC IN and the LINE-IN on my PC but EightyOne won't capture a real tape.

Audacity works fine to capture REAL tapes to .WAV but that's a hassle.

Unless EightyOne is'nt designed to use a real tape player and I'm using that WAV feature incorrectly??

I thought it was to capture a physical tape via a mono tape player...

The complete lack of documentation on the EightyOne emulator is annoying enough. :)

Ooops! Yes.
I run EightyOne1.14 and goto the WAV loader.
Then "WAV loader" is use to create a virtual cassette.
It's not link to the PC output plug.
You had to save this sound buffer in memory in a "Wav" extension music file !
If you try to click on the play icon (in the "wav loader" window), the virtual sound will be redirect to the emulator, not to the PC sound output device.
Save the sound buffer using the "disk" icon, and play it on a mediaplayer by double-clicking on it.
OR
Use the "Options > tape > destination > Audio out" device instead of the "WavLoader" setup...

To capture a wav:
I select the NEW icon, then I hit the RECORD (red) button on the window.
Ok,
I then press PLAY on my real tape player.

Arrgggg!
Missed…

You had to get an analogic signal from you tape… to EO ?
No, you can't do it … without to change the PC sound card setup… and the "Audio in" setup is unavailable.
You had to use a sound recorder software, like Audacity, Goldwav… and redirect it the PC mic plug.
Create a wav file.
Reload it in the "Wav Loader", and type play.

Ok.. I got it now.. The "Record" function is to record the EMULATORS save to .wav.

I will keep using Audacity and wav to p to import.
