16K Hires Pacman
Game title : 'Hires' Pacman
Game Author : Brian Lewis
Machine Specs : ZX81 with 16K RAM Pack
Freeware
Description:
Hi,
this is a 'hires' version of the well known maze game, tested and working on a standard ZX81 with 16K RAM pack
The was really to try and code an approximation of at least some of the ghost behaviours of the original (starting positions; hunt, scatter, scared modes etc.) on the good old '81

A really nice implementation - fast too and the ghosts seem to actually have some intelligence for once!

Hi,
thanks for the comments, much appreciated.
I've just put the source + a few more details up here: http://www.perfectlynormalsite.com/zx81/pacman.php if anyone's interested.
For the ghost behaviour - it's based on *very* simplistic versions of some of the original ghost algorithms described in (the fascinating) 'Pac-Man Dossier' http://home.comcast.net/~jpittman2/pacm ... ssier.html

Wonderful, the native HRG (no WRG) implementation is fascinating.. it could have been run even in 1981, without HW mods ( wasn't someone working on a time machine ? ).
Good job man.

Re: 16K Hires Pacman
Thanks man. Of course, we're all cheating a bit - writing these sort of games without a PC and a cross assembler would have been an absolute nightmare in 1981; but yes - if anyone has that time machine - I'd love to give them a couple of cassettes to take backstefano wrote:Wonderful, the native HRG (no WRG) implementation is fascinating.. it could have been run even in 1981, without HW mods ( wasn't someone working on a time machine ? ).
