615 Fonts for the ZX81

Well, actually they're C64 Game Fonts, but I've included a utility program which you can use to convert them to ZX81 conventions. The C64 font set can contain up to 256 characters, so I've broken each 64 character block into "Banks" for loading. Usually these would be upper case, lower case, special symbols and game elements. However, not every font contains 4 banks. Usually, looking at the sample pics you can tell how many banks are contained in it.

The only special requirement is RAM in the 8K to 16K area, but that's the norm for FONT/UDG applications.

Here are 38 "ready to use" C64 Fonts. Just load the font's P file into your favorite emulator or even better a UDG capable ZX81, you'll need RAM in the 8K region as the font data resides there. After the font's P file is loaded select a bank to use, make sure to view it to see if it's what you want, some banks contain game elements which won't make much sense.

Once the font's bank has been transfered load your program then USR 8704 will activate the font, USR 8709 will deactivate it.

C64 fonts will replace the standard ZX81 graphic characters with other type of characters and symbols. If your program requires ZX81 graphic characters, as most games will, choosing the "Restore Graphics" option will, well... restore the graphic characters, "Restore Symbols" will do the same for the ZX81 symbol characters.
