I'm having trouble playing this on the real hardware (done the pokes etc...) - I have a Memotech 16K pack with a Sinclair RAM Pack in the back of that.

Any tips?

Edit: I should point out that both RAM Packs work fine by themselves as they can both handle the game Virus :-)

Regards,

Shaun.

Hi Shaun_B,

You ram-pack is ok ...
But, your computer is ouf of memory !
It's a 32 kbyte ram game.
I tryed to compress it, but it's bigger than 24kb.
You had to get a 48k ram Memotech pack.
And poke the new ram-top to reinit your new memory.
16kb is too tinny to load the game...

Gus... , I'm behind the door locked by a 4 digit code...
Who to get codes "LIFT PORTRAIT" and ???? ...

I'm aware that the game requires 32K - that's why I have a 16K Memotech RAM Pack connected to my ZX81 and a Sinclair RAM Pack connected to that, which should make 32K? I also have a 32K RAM Pack that doesn't work, or at least I can't get it to work.

Regards,

Shaun.

I think both RAM packs are "sharing" memory map, so you are not "adding" 16+16... You have only 16K...

Setting the Memotech Rampack appropriately will give you 32kb as can be seen in the manual:

I have the Memotech pack set correctly, 2 and 3 on, 1 and 4 off. Maybe the Sinclair pack is a bit flaky because it only works with a certain power supply.

I have another 16K pack but this again will only work with one of my power packs (which I think is 700mAmp).

If only I can get the 32K pack to work :-(

Shaun.

I'm afraid I'm having trouble too.

I've tried it as a fastload, standard load (!) and loading from SD card. I've tried 2 different 32k ram expansions with the same result :(

This is typically what I see:

*edit*
My expansions are mapped from 8..40k - the binary is 32k - I think this may be the problem

Any chance there's an 8k data block that can be relocated?? Perhaps you could have a 2-part loader - part 1 copies data to 8k then load""s the second part ???

/me wishes hard

Hi,

Sad New ! :?

- It may be the "P" file... The original one seem to have 2 display memory in.
- There are a bug while the D_file is beatween 32k and 33k ! (due to the /M1)
We had to create a black rem filled with garbage to rise this display memory.
/or/ diet the rem, to lower the D_file segment...
- load the text part in the 2000h to 4000h, but fast-load can't be used !

Have More fun ?
