Sultan's Tower CHR$128 & Chroma versions

Post by GCHarder »

SULTAN'S TOWER
by Remko Blakenburgh, Leiden, Holland
from Your Computer, July 1985

Sultan (YC).p is the original, as published program, for standard ZX81.

Sultan.tzx is the Chroma version which works as a CHR$128 program as well.

There's also a nice cassette cover included, I don't remember where I got this from or who did it.

Now go and save Fatima!!!

Enjoy;

Greg

It's a hardware extension, for UDG (User Defined Graphics). Here every char can be changed. The CHR$128 version of UDG makes it possible to have 128 different chars. Here normal and inverse chars can be different.

It requires special hardware like Chroma 81 interface or UDG4ZXpand. Both of these hardware extensions for the ZX81 is hard to come by, as UDG4ZXpand is not made any longer, and Chroma 81 is made is small quantities, and in high demand.

Ah, thanks! I haven't tried using the UDG yet. Still researching how to do that.

I was aware fo Chroma81, figured out how to use it on a couple of my programs. Sadly, can't find actual hardware as you noted.
