I'm seeing other people's entries and well, judging by my submissions, I'm not sure if I can compete.

any ideas for me? where should I start?

exaggerate the titel with words like amazing, ultimate etc...
A simulator is also good to have.
Extra points if your display has flaws like YOUR THE BSET.
Also sometimes your code may crash for unexplainable reasons.

Don't make the game too good.
Best is a dull game with a catchy name.

I won with C.U.M.S. which was short for
Complete Useless Machie Simulator

First it was called Useless Machine Simulator but adding Complete gave it an extra dimension.

As I understand it, the idea is to create a "game" that kinda actually works. But is promoted, packaged and generally completely overstated compared to the 'run of the mill' 'dull' game that it is.

Hence extra points for producing glossy good looking instruction sheets, cassette inlays, loading screens, etc. And as dr beep says, big it up with an outrageous name and description.

Oh, and as long as you heavily modify it and say that it's based on someone else's work (and provide details), you can reuse an existing previous entry. But your version has to be 'better'.
