DIGG-IT

DIGG-IT is the 1K implementation of the classic Videopacgame PICK AXE PETE.
The second G is displayed not inverted to form the word DIGIT to emphasize that the
game is coded in just a few digits (8x1024).

DIGG-IT is coded for the 40th anniversary of the ZX81.
After loading the screen will show a tribute to this anniversary.

You start a new game with NEWLINE.
MINER M1KE is breaking boulders. For each boulder you get a point.
Breaking boulders damages the axe MINER M1KE is using. After a while the
axe is less good and finally broken. You can see the status of an axe directly
after the score. An inverted T is a full working axe, a normal T is almost broken and
you might end without an axe. When your axe breaks you are killed when hit by a boulder.
Get a new axe somewhere in the mine to smash new boulders.
Axes move through the mine when not taken in time.
Boulders come from the boxes and disappear back into them.
You can't walk through the boxes. You need to jump over them.

Digg-It is maybe the most impressive 1K game I've ever seen - fast, smooth, really nice to play and very addictive (top score so far 51). Top work.

Thanks for the compliment.

Have you played my 1K hires games?
Personally I think they are more impressive.

I think we had this conversation recently - none of them work for me (lr-81 on Retropie) 🙁

Johnnie Walker lives on his small bottle label.
Beside him is an invisible demon that paints
free spaces near Johnnie after every step that he makes.

After 20 steps a random step is cleared.
How far can you keep Johnnie walking?

The original idea is from Matthias Swatosch and coded
in BASIC. I made a 1K hires version of it after consent of Matthias.

Hello Dr. Beep,
unfortunately the game doesn't run with graphics on my EO. Just black blocks. Where can I get the Hi-Res Scheme?
