I'm playing Wrath of Kong from here;

It's brilliant! The animation is superb, the movement is responsive and of course it's very, very hard.

...as for myself - "NANAKO".

Sadly too hard, but still much better than the Spectrum version and I managed to go through about 4 levels.
And still have the last life + codes, so most probably I will be playing it also tomorrow. ;)

Actually they could publish codes for the game, heh.

Today I was playin' for 4 hours or something :) :) the "Treasure Hunter" game. It was much safer now, as we have the joystick support ( download/file.php?id=830 ), so no resets of the computer because of too hard pressing keyz, hahahahah. :)

I managed to go to 116 screen!!! ;) And then I found an error made by the author. :) Arrrrrrgh, hehehe.

It's probably the best of classic games I've seen on ZX81 (actually only the newest ones, made in 2000-years are as good as this ancient piece of software) and I can easily say, it's one of the best games I've seen on any computer.

I admit my dream would be to make with somebody a similar game(s), with some coder, I remember we were making such stuff with a friend in 80s, for ZX Spectrum 48K, but of course our progs weren't as beautiful as the "Treasure Hunter" is, heheeh. The idea of 'chambers' (one screen = one adventure/task, sometimes it's called 'chamber games') is very interesting to me - and it's oldschool. :)

Last times we _try_ to make this style of game on Spectrum 128 - with different graphic but with all the adventures I based on ZX81's "Treasure Hunter" indeed. :)
But that's not the same what would be to make such a game for ZX81 16K. :)
Ah well.

Your description sounded interesting so I decided to try Treasure Hunter. I think I now know what game I'll be playing this weekend :)

Haha, and that's good. ;)
The chambers/rooms might be difficult sometimes but in the final version they added unlimited numbers of attempts. So it IS possible to play - and have fun actually.
The intro is long and it isn't possible to skip it but it shows only once.
Normally I play games like... what - 5 minutes? :) But this one I played now for several hours yesterday, hehehe.

Now we tray to make a game based on similar rules, on Spectrum.

Hm. We will see what the outcome will be. ;)

Adventure One from Abersoft http://www.zx81stuff.org.uk/zx81/genera ... reOne.html . Closely follows the original mainframe text adventure 'Colossal Caves' written in the 70's. The game is based on a real cave system which gives the game real atmosphere and 'credibility'. This is a classic and is still very playable even today. I have inverted the video to give white text on a black background to add even more atmosphere. If you have never played this, one of the first text adventures, then you are definately missing out IMHO.

Well, another day with Tempest.
Playing is a bit disturbing on touch-sense keyboard but not so bad. :)
