Try downloading this and listening to it - does it sound like your tape?

Hi sirmorris!

Yes, my tape sounds exactly like your sample :D

Let me tell you that we are dealing with a spectrum tape.

It was developed in a TK-83 for a CZERWENY CZ-1000. Both clones of Spectrum ZX-81 and mutually complatibles.

I attach a link to the program in case you want/can take a look.

Hi DOAs_fan!

Where are you from?

I'm from Brazil and I know a shoot'em up game named PROTEU wich was published in "Micro Sistemas" magazine by Gilson Roberto Viana. Take a look at the following page http://zx81.eu5.org/msprog.htm and search for "PROTEU".

Is this the game you're looking for or is it just a coincidence?

Hi kmurta!

First than all, thank you for your interest :D

I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Unfortunatly, is just a coincidence :(

For a moment I thought you had find it.

The game´s name is exactly the same but with an "S" on the end.

It was developed and distributed in Argentina during 1985 aprox. PROTEUS came with Czerweny CZ 1000 (An Argentinian clone of ZX-81).

My dad developes it using a TK-83 (The brazilian clone of ZX-81).

By a coincidence, I had found a copy of it (In a Tape) and I want to restore and share it. This is my crusade ;)

Thanks!

Bye.

For a moment I thought you had find it.
I also, but don't worry, I managed to recover this from your wav file: C.ASAD(R)

See the atachment ;)

P.S.: The game is very fast, configure the emulator EightyOne to "NTSC TV", so you can play it in the original speed.

kmurta: Let me tell that you are the ZX-81 man, dude!!! :D

You are genius! Thank you so much for help me to recover this forgotten piece of code. It means a lot for my.

P.S.: Just a funny technical detail. My father alway renege about Basic language. Always said "Games developed in Basic are extremly slow"
This is the razon why he developes PROTEUS in Assembler language :geek:

P.S.2: Maybe sound a little bit ambitious but is there any way to recover the source code for the .p file?

Amazing! Well done Kelly! How did you manage the recovery?? I thought it would be near impossible with existing tools...

DOAs_fan - this is indeed great news :D (Especially as I now don't have to do hard maths  )

Regards

C

*edit* - that is one tough game! You're right about the speed!

What keys are to control? I can't find them being killed every time 2 seconds after the game's start.

An excellent game - would you mind if I add it to my ZX81 downloads page?

Mind you it is too fast for me when playing it in 50fps mode (UK TV) !!
