Hmmm - how can say it boots okay if you don't have a start screen ?
I have to think further what it could be.
Do all other 7 positions bring a "K" cursor ?
Did you try an update ? Not recommended now, just to know what could have happen.

I thought it should show this screen in at least position 0?

Didn't you take this picture yourself ?
It is published under the same account as your other pictures.
This would be the correct start screen for instance 0 - maybe we have just different ideas what the start screen should show.
If you took the picture above it seems to be in a working condition in instance 0.
There is no cursor in instance 0 as this is a control software only which deals with switching between instances and USB service routines for LOAD/SAVE.

Picture is a copy from another post demonstrating my problem, I am not seeing this in position 0 , only seeing k prompt with IC22 and IC24 out.

Are you seeing ZX80 mode in positions 6 and 7, or ZX81 mode for all positions? Or if you have a later release, ZX80 is just in position 7 I think.

To test use a ZX81 keyword...

Mark
ZX81 Variations
ZX81 Chip Pin-outs
ZX81 Video Transistor Buffer Amp

:!: Standby alert :!:
There are four lights!
Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb :!:
Looking forward to summer later in the year.

This is strange. The led is off in position 0, isn't it ? Can you enter a program in instance 0 like >10 PRINT "SOMETHING"< ?
Can you measure voltage level at pin 1, pin 2 and pin 30 of the EPROM (IC4) ? Should be around 2V or higher (depending on LED used as pullup).
Are you able to program the Flash EPROM SST39SF040 by owning an EPROM programmer ?

Sorry that you made so much homework - this was not planned. You don't have to pickup the values from schematics.
The manual is also attached at the listing on sellmyretro where you bought this device.
You should find the construction manual including the listed parts (position printed on board silk print) here in this posting with a download link:

http://sinclairzxworld.com/viewtopic.ph ... 907#p18907

There are also more hints needed during construction and first powering up.
If you have further questions please feel free to ask here. ;)
