Here is the EXAMPLE from the instructions

* BASIC: 61 seconds
* Compiled: 2 seconds

After you compile it, you could delete the BASIC lines -- just keep the REMs -- and still be able to execute the compiled program

And now I see that LET L=USR does indeed work better than RAND USR (for this compiler)
