G007 hires unit - documentation wanted
Re: G007 hires unit - documentation wanted
Looking at the documentation it looks like it's just a hires enabler for regular RAM, and all the magic is in the software in EPROM.
But maybe the electronics overwrites the internal ROM to get new functionality to existing commands.

..it does..... i'm not sure who originated this design but looks identical (and probably is) to the Maplin zx81 hires graphics board...maybe it originated from there?! there is(was) the full article on the net a while back....
Re: G007 hires unit - documentation wanted
Looking at the Maplin instructions the hardware and software seems identical. The Maplin software even gives the 0/G007 message.
Re: G007 hires unit - documentation wanted
That's a very interesting observation - thanks!

The Maplin GB43w is the same PCB ?
What is the G007's manufacturer name ?

Interesting thread. I picked up one of these off Ebay about 2 years ago for a couple of quid. It was sold along with about a dozen other modules including some unfinished Maplin products.
Anyway did a bit of a search and turned up this:
Notting Dale Technology Center LTD
according to ZX Computing Aug-Sep 1983.

Re: G007 hires unit - documentation wanted
Is the ROM dump available for this anywhere?
Or even better would be the source code...

Yes, the Rom dump is available in EO (ROMs directory: g007hrg.rom) and, the emulation ressource available in C++ and VB.
