Hi!
A friend of mine sent me a Timex1000 from USA.I live in Greece so I was ready for the Pal/NTSC issues.
I used a 9v power adapter from an old NTSC 2600 (which was on a 220->110 stepper),I connected the rf cable but...
...the only thing I get is a tottaly white screen with no cursor.
More strange is the fact that the display depends on how deep I push the 9v power jack.So I also get a rolling screen with half screen of artifacts(consisted of some character I cannot make out due to the speed of the "roll")
I am a speccy "collector" but I never had a ZX81/Timex1000 before so I have no clue of what to examine.
Any clues appreciated.Thanx in advance!

Just meanwhile I would like to add that >>rolling screen with half screen of artifacts(consisted of some character I cannot make out due to the speed of the "roll")<< part seems to be similar to my experiences.
I had this kind of weird screen with a sign (it was simply a distorted cursor, it apeared later) and I found that my TV-set was too new for such an old computer. Try with some old TV-set (even just for an experiment). Maybe it will work.

I would have blamed the ntsc incompatibility if the cursor was not missing
I hope that someone has come across these issues that I describe because I really want to fix this little beast...

Hi again.Still no luck but I found the following info
"this is a PAL-version; the pre-1985 machines were produced for the US-market and therefore NTSC-versions. PAL or NTSC can be selected by soldering a link wire to a specific location (R30?)"
Does anyone know if it is possible to turn it to PAL and how can it be done (the questionmark makes me wonder )?
