ZX-81 with RUBBER KEYBOARD??
Re: ZX-81 with RUBBER KEYBOARD??
I had that same keyboard on my 81, its a add-on, it literally just sticks on top of the normal keyboard (the back of it is sticky) and when you press the keys, it presses down on the original keys.
I upgraded later to a dktronics keyboard.
If I recall, the rubber one cost about 10 uk pounds at the time, the dktronics cost me 30 to 40 pounds at the time.
I cant remember the name of the rubber one of hand, but next time I am in the loft It may be there, if not, there are plenty of old mags up there that will have the ads in for it. Could scan one in and post it up.

Ah, this muthafucka changed conditions of the transaction in the last minute.
So finally I don't have the keyboard.
Well, anyway if You find some article and have spare time to scan it - I wouldbe grateful.
If You don't have time for this - it's no problem.

Re: ZX-81 with RUBBER KEYBOARD??
hi yerzmyey
the rubber keyboard you mention was called "filesixty". the first ones had hard plastic keys and were crap! the later rubber ones were far better , until the rubber weakened after many key presses then the key stayed down. search for old sinclair user mags they used to be advertised in there.
Also could i ask ZX81JENS can you actualy get your zon x81 to do anything apart from the weezy sounds that come with the manual? dammed if i can?
regards moggy

Ah, it's also very interesting info. Thx!
Well, if the keyboard don't destroy the original one (well, the glue sounds a bit scarry ), then it might be cool addition (even if only temporarily ).

Well, there was some separated topic about this subject-matter and we came to conclusion it's possible to convert music from Spectrum to ZX-81 but it will not work in interrupts probably.
Sadly the works stopped at some point.

Re: ZX-81 with RUBBER KEYBOARD??
hi guys!
with the zonx81-sound interface i only did the ZX-TEAM-hymne - you can found it here as a midi-file here:
http://www.zx81.de/multimedia/hymne.mid
and as well as a .p-file and also in text (see below)...
i´ve done the hymne for the zonx81 together with mike preuss at the ZX-TEAM-meeting 2006, but only in mono (means one voice).
but ... there is nothing more at the moment
greetings
jens

I think it's this one:yerzmyey wrote:Yo!
How is it possible this ZX-81 has rubber keyboard (looking like factory stuff, not "hand-made")?

hi yerzmyey
Look out for the Memotech or Fuller keyboards The Filesixty rubber ones were not that good, sticking keys or no press at all when well used!
