Has anyone been sucessfull interfacing ZXmore with ZXPand or ZXPand+ ?
Has anyone been sucessfull interfacing ZXmore with ZXPand or ZXPand+ ?
I recently purchased a ZXmore and ZXPand+ (also owning the classic ZXPand) and have not been able to get any useable output when I connect either updated ZXPand or ZXPand+ to my ZXmore board. Can anyone share if this is possible. I have read posts about it indicating it is but haven't gotten any replies to how it is done. All I get is a screen similar to a tape sync display with sometimes the data is displayed as graphics in 4 quadrants of the screen. Nothing useable. No inverse K.
Thanks,
Tim

Doesn't ZXmore have a USB connector for files? And built-in memory?
What advantage does ZXPand have? Maybe ZXPand+AY would be sound... I don't believe that is included on ZXmore...

As both ZXmore and ZXpand have built-in memory - you have to make sure, that you don't have overlapping memory. Maybe some memory sections can be disabled on either ZXmore or ZXpand so you don't have two memory expansions covering the same memory area.
Re: Has anyone been sucessfull interfacing ZXmore with ZXPand or ZXPand+ ?
Yes disabling the memory overlap makes sense but if you cant get to the inverse K then you cant disable anything. There must be a way to do this. I like the features of both of them and heard in a ZXmore post that a user did it (but no response from him on this).

I think the problem is, that ZXpand tries to disable the internal ROM of ZXmore. Not sure if this feature could be switched off (with a DIP or so) and if ZXpand would be useful this way ...

ZXpand tries to disable both the ROM and the RAM of the computer it is attached to. That's how the "overlay ROM" and the 32k of SRAM in it work.

Thank you guys.
So from what I'm hearing, ZXPand or ZXPand+ is NOT able to currently interface with ZXmore. Is that right?

I was just confused then by Dessony's posting:

Thanks! I will upload my own pix here soon. Now I am figuring out how to use the ZXPand and ZXmore together, for loading a program from the SD card. Thank again.

These photographed screens are mine! Don't worry about the few "white lines" on my monitor, these lines aren't causing by the ZXmore, the monitor caused it.
ZXmore and ZXpand worked together very well!
Cheers!

That was last year with the first version of the ZXmore.
If you use the manual ROM switch set to a ZX81 instance (say position 1), it is possible that it may then work with the ZXpand / ZXpand+.
Note: I have not tried this myself.
