Hi,
Some years ago, a friend gave my a 3 1/2inch floppy + controller for my ZX81 but I did'nt find any time to test it since then.
Last sunday i tried to plug it in line but i did'nt find any disk nor documentation in english or french
I only have some documentation in german.
It was originaly sold by Schulz Electronic (Kupferzell / Germany).
I do not have any disk, just those three documents (joined in pdf format) :
- a ZX-DOS assembler listing commented in german (pdf with a scan of the 2 first pages)
- a 2 pages mini-manual in german
- a 2 pages catalog of the products related to the floppy by Schultz Electronic .
Does any of you know about this hardware ?
Any advice ? May be a more complete manual IN ENGLISH for example ? (i do not speak german and google traduction seems a bit strange in french)
If any of you needs the complete ZX DOS asm listing , just ask, i will try to scan the booklet in the weekend
Thanks !

Re: ZX81 Floppy disk/ and interface with ZX-DOS
If you hop over to the German/zx-team forum at tlienhard.com you might have some success. They are a very friendly gang, some of whom may well appear here shortly It is perfectly acceptable to post in English there, I am always in admiration.

Hi DIM75
I also have one of these floppy controllers which I haven't tried yet.
I'm going to translate the document for you.
I never had any documentation so it's an interesting read for me.
I'm going to find out if there is any Eprom update for it.
Kind regards Paul

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Hi Demetris,
Vb81 XuR can support:
- Larken 5'1/4 disks controller card.
- Magecco 3'1/2 disks controller card.
Not this kind of hardware (IO and RAM not supported)
But, it will be easy to disassemble his ROM at 2000h to spot IO assignments and ROM sub-routines !

No need for disassembly. The assembly source is

Thanks Paul !
I will try to type-in the ASM code....

Re: ZX81 Floppy disk/ and interface with ZX-DOS
Hi all of you, thanks a lot for your feedback !
Thanks to Paul for the translated doc and for his complete "bonus" original documents (and...i wont have to scan the ZXDOS ASM listing for other ZX fan as he gave it in the zip file )
And i'm pretty sure XavSnap will add this option to Vb81Xur soon now.
I'll try to use the floppy next week and let you know about it.
