Well diging some more has gifted me with these boards but no software...

2 EPROM burners and 2 8255 I/O boards for the PC... but more than likely from my XT days.

If anyone recognises these boards and happens to have software... Id be in your debt for life.

Am I mistaken or does this help?

omg that just may be exactly what I need. I have to check the model numbers I have.

now the other can of worms... I have to fire up my old 486 or my ancient xt sitting under my drill press for 35 years. think the full size hard drive will wind up?

thanks

Depends on humidity. If always been low, it should fire up.

(The mother or daughter board circuits can oxidize with moisture which is why the clothes dryer in garage should be vented outdoors)

Depending on the actual type of HDD, it pay be worthwhile checking to see if there is access to apply a single small drop of fine oil for the motor/drive bearings.

I have an EPROM burner for the ZX spectrum that handles the older 21/25V stuff 2764 2732 2532 2716 that kind of thing, quite handy for when I need a Forth or Shoulder of giants EPROM for a newly acquired zeddy.

well I've got my 486 fired up. everything is working fine, just as it did when I shut her down 35 years ago.

but neither burner works with it. I've read speed is critical. so i dug out my xt. problem is it doesn't have any video board, no floppies and no HD. basically building a new machine. that opens another can of worms... no monitor for it either. I do have tons of various boards n drives but I doubt any will be comparable with an xt.

the good news is I got my 8255 boards to work on the 486 doing some peeking n poking... so now what?

hahahaha

just having fun I guess.

Good to hear that your 486 still works 8-)

Can't help with the EPROM programmer boards.

As to the 8255 board for the 486, either control some modern cheap 5V USB or 4.5V battery operated Christmas / party LED lights (may need to use some transistor to act as current buffers) or better yet, interface it to a another 8255 board connected to the Zeddy expansion port, so that there are two 8255 chips 'back-to-back' ;)
Then it should be possible to transfer data between them 8-)

Just just want a cheap way to burn a 25 V eprom? I have a schematic for a Arduino based solution, although it still needs some testing.
