Would you want to? Not sure.

If it is important to you (sentimental) and you really, really do want to repair it, you will get help. Otherwise, my feeling is, you are better either using a more modern expansion that includes more RAM, or fitting a modern SRAM chip on the ZX81 board (internal RAM upgrade).

The choice however is yours...

Thanks for this info. My main aim is to get one or more working ZX81s. Although there is a degree of sentimentality in the whole thing, I don't think I'm too bothered if I do or don't have a working RAM pack, as long as I can get 16K or more in some fashion. And since I already have a 32K chip to try to fit inside one of the machines, I'll take your advice and leave the RAM pack alone. I'll just admire it for curiosity value!

Thanks for your input, it's saved me wasting time and possibly damaging something else in the process.
