Another PCB, again ;)

Post by Franck78 »

Hello All,

I was discussing ZX with a friend some time ago and decided to build the PCB as identical possible as issue 3.
I already ordered a batch of 5 from china and the PCB is working (eg no error)

I'm hesitating ordering a new batch. But if I do, I would like to make the hole positioning exact.
I don't have any original pcb to do that.

The purpose of this PCB is simple: replace old pcb with to much 'mods' for example. Or build new one, prepare kit ?
Don't expect any mod on it ! Not the goal.
Except for jack audio footprint and a real DC jack

So to verify the hole positioning, I was thinking
  • print the pdf , cut the board.
  • tape it on the back with the external connector as 'reference'
  • flip the board
  • with a needle, pierce the paper in the center of each hole
With this, I sill see correction offsets for the hole.

Audiojacks are PJ-307 (aliexpress)

Thank you,
Franck

Awesome! Just what I'd need for a new home for my spare ZX81 ROM Chip and one of my Z80 chips :)

I'd be interested if you have any spares - I've got a duff motherboard with broken tracks so this would be a great use for the components

This is a interesting project.
Do you plan to publish the kikad files?
Do you think it's possible to add the original footprints for the mic,ear and power sockets? They are still available and it will be far more authentic.
Kind regards Paul

Hello,

well, I guess I will order a minimum batch (5 pcb), without exact holes ;)

@Paul, I can do it with the correct jack and no DC

But I would like to know where to find the jacks, the footprint, the reference etc etc.

For now, I don't want to share the KiCad pcb file.

You find them virtually everywhere, the device is called "CLIFF CL1390" and you get it from Farnell, Reichelt, Amazon, Ebay, Digikey....

That's a pitty. Otherwise I would have provided you with the footprints and an original PCB.
