With or without the ‘dead cockroach’ ‘fixer’ board? The dead cockroach board could well mess things up.

It’s very possible that the software is expecting one of the two later ROMs, especially if it copes ROM code or calls/jumps to any of the ROM code routines.

Although I have bought the bits for this project, lack of hobby time means I’ve not progressed any further :(

Mark
It is without the cockroach but I will try another ROM thanks.

I don't see the red led but the blue one is on all the time, more flickering than flashing.

So it was clearly the 550 bugged ROM it does not like!

I put in a 649 and that worked fine. I will try a 622 at some point as well.

I put in a 622 (intermediate fixed ROM) and that worked fine so it appears to only be the original bugged 550 that causes issues.

I assume that this may also have issues with the various custom BASIC ROMs?

This is a seriously impressive bit of engineering! The Gauntlet loads in about 6 seconds! Really impressive stuff. 8-)

Thanks for checking. I assume the flashing is down to which particular ESP32 you have.

Has anyone connected one of these to an issue three board?

Just wondering what the connection points would be?

Many thanks!

I have added the brown wire between the two points above, and so that on the 3-pin header I've soldered below the power socket gives me: GND, VIDEO, 5V.

Then I have soldered the white wire to the left side of the R34 resistor. This gives the white wire: EAR-IN.

GND, VIDEO, 5V and EAR-IN are the 4 signals needed for the ZX-Wespi.

Many thanks.

Are they in GND, VIDEO and 5V from left to right on the socket in the photo?
