Replacement connectors

Post by Prime »

Are the connectors used for Tape/Power on the ZX80/81, and Tape on the Spectrum still available from anywhere, as I have a few machines that could do with them replacing.....

Cheers.

I can now comfirm that these do indeed fit, if you snip one of the legs off, should work fine in a Spectrum too.

Hi,
I wonder if these are really the right parts.
They are the CL1382 parts (S6/BB). From the datasheet attached by farnell these are supposed to be used with wires.
We would need S6/BB PC for printed circuit boards which are CL1384.
These can be found elsewhere (e.g. mercateo).
Did anybody order these and confirm this?

Thanks
Paul
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

I'll check when I get home, but the CL1382 sockets actually fit the oles on the ZX81 mainboard, I also believe that the originals where also the ones designed to have wires soldered to them. I have an unbuilt kit (at home so can check this).

You are right about the part number - I have had to modify the part in order to fit the zx80 board. I can't find the correct part at any of my uk suppliers.

When you say 'modify' what exactly do you mean, the ZX80/81/Spectrum ones only have 3 legs, where as the farnell ones have 4, but all I needed to do was to cut the 4th leg off and it fit the ZX81 perfectly.

Pop off the 4th leg and trim the legs so they're thinnerer.
