ZX80 PSU with tarnished tip

Post by Lardo Boffin »

What is the best way to de-tarnish the tip of a PSU?

As you can see it is not shiny metal any more! The PSU is working but has to be plugged in extremely carefully for the ZX81 to work.

Thanks!

Don't use sanding paper!
I normally use a piece of cotton cloth together with contact spray like caramba, WD-40 etc
I don't rub it but "speed over it" like I was trying to set on fire ;)
And, if your PSU tip looks like that you should open it and see what the inside looks like, it wasn't stored in a dry place.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Thanks! I was considering something like Brasso but I guess that would be too abrasive.

If I can find a long enough screw driver I will pop it open.

That looks a lot better!
