I have bought a zx81 together with a mystery I/O unit. I have scanned the Internet but can not get any information about it.
It is a ZX-81 I/O interface module from Neways electronics (made in holland). Together with a big box with switches and input and output ports. I include some pictures to show it. The Big box has serial number 1080 and also states Neways electronics. The I/O interface contains a 2K RAM and some logic ic's .
See pictures.
Does anyone know what this was used for exactly or ever seen one?

Not seen anything like that before for the ZX81. But there were similar I/O boxes for the Acorn BBC Micro model B for use in schools and colleges back in the 1980s. Although these were a bit different to the ‘big box’ you have there.
