Mark,

I see what you mean by "SI" units now... every dimension seems random in both imperial and metric... To that point, I redid the top case too, but not sure I have the angles of the two front tapers right. The engineer in me says they should be 60 degrees for the front of the main body and 45 for the top part, but I suspect neither is the case. Seems more like 55 and 40. Any way to check?

Thanks!

In theory, despite what some of our politicians and people think, the U.K. was supposed to be using metric for all engineering of new products including lengths (even our motorways have marker posts in metric metres/km) long before 1980.

But as seen in the above measurements, they aren’t nice round numbers. The imperil inches are also not nice round numbers either.

I’ll see what I can do to measure the angles.

Great thanks! As much as I love the Sinclair stuff as part of my personal history, no real engineer would make stuff this way. From the physical parts to the electronics there's some real head scratchers! I keep wanting to correct mistakes, but it was what it was lol.

This photo gives a good view of the radius where the camel hump meets the "flat" section of the lid as well as the angle of the hump's sides.

Thanks, I'm good there, but need to know the 2 angles on the front face, or a straight on side shot so I can measure them

Oooohhh, that ZX80 had a hard time!
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Indeed. I was going to suggest calculating the angles with trigonometry from a top-down view, but that only works if you know how far away the camera was from the case so you could compensate for parallax error.

Maybe Mark can take photos from across the opposite side of a room with a high quality zoom camera, preferably on a tripod? That should make parallax error negligible.

I have an excellent camera and a suitable tripod. If someone would like to send me a free ZX80, I'm happy to help out.

That's how this whole thing got started :) I can do it with a straight on side shot as I'll just pull it into cad, but haven't found one yet.
