ROM base for ZXpand+

Post by msknight »

I've been running some classic 3D Monster Maze and with the Big Bang ROM it seems a bit quicker and more fun to play.

However, I was wondering about the ZXpand+ ROM and whether it is more like the Big Bang, or more like 649 please.

I know that I can fit a zeddy with a big bang and execute the X option when running, but I was just wondering what the situation is please :-)

According to Charlie it's based on the 622 ROM, but stripped of its Character table and the printer routines to make room for those needed by the spand.
When in use the spands ROM points to the character table in the zeddy ROM for its needs and obviously CONFIG X is required to use the zeddy ROM for printing.

When the spand was first mooted nothing was commonly known about a third ROM ( 649 )

The big Bang only speeds up some BASIC elements not machine code and also gets rid of the annoying screen flicker when using pause and the scrambled mess that occurs when clearing the screen after using SCROLL.
