Would this keyboard work on the new ZX Spectrum Next, which is just about to conclude on Kickstarter? Apparently the 'board only' uncased option is designed to work in the standard Spectrum 48k type case.

I have the same question. I believe the answer is yes but I won't be held up in court as an expert witness in this case.

Yes it works.
There is also a spectrum plus keyboard from Pokemon that I am going to use.

As there is no hardware spec published of the NEXT and nobody has a test candidate by now (at least I don't know anybody personally ;) ) this couldn't be answered with 100% yes. But is is very likely, that the keyboard is working as the connectors where made at the same position of the original spectrum and the promise of the NEXT team, that it can be "easily" put in a 48k (rubber) case.

And I guess, that this has been used with some original keyboards during test or maybe with a 48K-KDLX or 48P-KDLX keyboard.

So the answer would be, I am 99% convinced, it will work, at least the 48K-KDLX version. The 48P-KDLX is a bit different and a kind of energy harvesting device, creating a power supply from the address lines and keyboard lines. So proper function of the 48P-KDLX may depend on the logic levels and impedances of the outputs used in the NEXT.

I've seen somewhere that the NEXT support for ZX81 is the ZX81 emulator made for Spectrum back in the days. It was a software cartridge for the Spectrum. This cartridge will be built-in in the NEXT.

So - finally in production and expected to be available somewhen in next week (50 pieces).

So the 48K-KDLXR keyboard membranes are back now in the shop as board only, assembly/construction kit and completed versions.
The price got 5% down now (in EUR) due to some cheaper pcb costs (1 EUR).

You can find it here as always:

Due to request from several people and after 1 year sold out I am proud to announce the return of the 48K-KDLXS keyboards with the printed membrane on top. It can be used easy with any 16k/48k Spectrum case without it's rubber mat and without the faceplate and can be placed in the "panned" upper case. As the boards are quite flexible they need a plain underground to be placed on.

The keyboards are available at sellmyretro as assembly kit for self-soldering/mounting and completed/tested keyboards.
The assembly kit is available for EUR 19.90 (about 18 GBP or 23 USD) and the completed version for EUR 24.90 (about 23 GBP or 29 USD).
