A mixed bag! The RAM pack works, the zeddy just gives a white screen and the PSU rattles a lot!
Edit - the ULA was dead.

Re: Lardo buys another zeddy
Thanks to these two and a combination of postal strikes and customs (delaying a shipment of bits from Ginger Electronics) I now have five zeddies in the backlog!
Which means I need more parts from Ginger Electronics! Argh.

Moggy quickly puts in order to Karl for a pallet of klikkys and video boards so as to thwart the evil zeddy lord!Lardo Boffin wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 8:19 pm Thanks to these two and a combination of postal strikes and customs (delaying a shipment of bits from Ginger Electronics) I now have five zeddies in the backlog!

Nice zeddies by the way.

Re: Lardo buys another zeddy
A nice issue one yellow / beige zeddy with RAM pack and PSU. Not tested the PSU, need to find a plug but the other bits work.

The PSU is likely to have been dropped, and is the type where the transformer is mounted on a SRBP board, but has now broken free… if so, it’s scrap as it’s unlikely to be safe.Lardo Boffin wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 8:15 pm A mixed bag! I popped the case open to remove the innards but it seems to be ok?1024MAK wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 1:33 amThe PSU is likely to have been dropped, and is the type where the transformer is mounted on a SRBP board, but has now broken free… if so, it’s scrap as it’s unlikely to be safe.Lardo Boffin wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 8:15 pm A mixed bag! The whole assembly is loose in the case but the transformer is securely attached to the PCB:
Could it be that the foam stuff on top is no longer stopping the assembly move around?
I assume it needs to be some sort of heat resistant foam? It would be a shame to dispose of this if otherwise ok. Assuming it works of course! Not actually tried it yet.

Re: Lardo buys another zeddy
If the board is okay and the pins (and the plastic former that holds the pins to the transformer) are okay, that’s good.
It could well be the foam pad being missing or otherwise no longer doing it’s job. Also the board should fit snugly down with the plastic pillars of the case going into the holes in the board. Assuming that this version fits that way.
There are at least four different versions made by different companies for Sinclair. Possibly even more.
I’ve not researched foam pads with respect to temperature rating! But yes, it would indeed be good to use something suitable rather than what you can buy in the stationary section of a shop

A working nice issue one and 16K Memopak.
Might be a while before I do anything with this one though as I seem to have run Ginger Electronics out of keyboards…
