ZX8-CCB and keyboard membrane replacements
ZX8-CCB and keyboard membrane replacements
Hi friends,
long time not been here.
I just wanted to announce, that I did setup a shop for my products
* ZX8-CCB video module
* ZX8-KDLX keyboard (membrane replacement for ZX81/ZX80)
* 48K-KDLX keyboard (membrane replacement for ZX Spectrum
All these items are on stock and available here at https://www.ginger-electronic.com/en/
It is still unclear, if, how and to what conditions these could be available on sellmyretro due to much regulation changes regarding the BR.... - don't want to use the bad word in the moment.
There have been some tickering on the keyboards for the ZX Spectrum plus / 128k keyboards and I decided to put an item called pre-order which is in fact not really a pre-order but a kind of list where you can sign if you are interested in these. I have not yet decided to do a new production run but think of it when there is enough interest for it.
Also I will return more often here to this forum and want to setup some new interesting projects in the winter. So hope to discuss some stuff in future and hope you all stay well in the meantime.
See you soon,
Karl

Re: ZX8-CCB and keyboard membrane replacements
The last ones I had were white. Looks good in black - suits the zeddy a bit more.

Re: ZX8-CCB and keyboard membrane replacements
Just thinking out loud about the Spectrum plus keyboard (48P-KDLX KEYBOARD) - my Toastrack has a broken space bar. It looks like someone pulled the space bar off without realising it was attached to the case via two metal bars.
It works fine if you press it in the middle but would there be an option on these to have extra keyswitches or similar where the gaps are so that it still works if press it at either end?
These would in effect help to replace the metal bar.
Judging by how hard it is to get a new space bar (without buying a whole computer) I can’t be the only person with this issue?

Re: ZX8-CCB and keyboard membrane replacements
Difficult to find, I think.
Maybe you buy a broken Spectrum not working.
Or use a 3D printer or so.
I don't know how a working space bar looks like or what is broken exactly.

Re: ZX8-CCB and keyboard membrane replacements
You can probably repair the spacebar by epoxying some small loops of wire for the bar to hook into and if the bar is bent or damaged either bend it back or get a length of stiff wire and make a new one.Lardo Boffin wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 5:28 pm Just thinking out loud about the Spectrum plus keyboard (48P-KDLX KEYBOARD) - my Toastrack has a broken space bar. Re: ZX8-CCB and keyboard membrane replacements
Multiple switches have been tried before for things like space bars. They were not successful, hence nearly all keyboards use metal bars.
