that is interesting, on Eightyone emul and LCD monitor, i'm pretty sure i could see blue, light blue at edges and a very dark blue in solid spaces, however on real hardware and a monochrome monitor i could see nothing but white, black and greys

I'm wondering if this effect takes advantage of the bandwidth limitations of colour composite video signals, where some frequencies of the luminance signal fool the colour decoder circuitry in the colour monitor or TV.
However, that would not explain the effect on a emulator running on VGA or a digital connection :?

Of course, a monochrome CRT display has no colour circuits to be fooled. So the only possible effect would be to fool the human eye. This is apparently possible, but that's all I know...

I tested with real hardware: a B/W CRT and 2 colour LED displays: no colour :-(
I testet in 50 Hz video mode ("PAL") and will retest in 60 Hz mode later ("NTSC": Never The Same Colour ;-) ) ...

Same result in 60 Hz (NTSC) mode :-(
But I have used a Zeddy with composite video output. Might it be caused by the modulator and is only visible on a TV with RF connection?

No I tried both R/F and composite and no luck at all but as I posted earlier 3D TV doesn't work for me either so probably a brain malfunction.

So maybe it's necessaty to set the brain to 3.25 Mhz and the date to 1981

Since it's an optical illusion I would've thought that just fine tuning the rotation rate faster or slower would get it to work on other set ups. Apparently not. I have gotten colors, mostly burgundy red, on my LCD computer monitor using EO as well a the old color CRT shown in the original post. Well, maybe it's the elevation that's important thinner air or something. I guess you can use them as hypnotic disks.
