Mazogs for the ZX80
Mazogs for the ZX80
I've just released a flicker-free conversion of Mazogs to run on the ZX80. There are versions for ZX80 with its original 4K integer BASIC ROM and also for the ZX80 with the upgraded 8K floating point BASIC ROM.
Full details and the game for download cam be found here:

A great looking conversion - it has been a while since something new was created for the ZX80

Re: Mazogs for the ZX80
Impressive job Paul! Congratulations
Re: Mazogs for the ZX80
And now Mazogs is available on the 48K ZX Spectrum also:

This is the original code re-assembled 16K higher in memory so that it clears the Spectrum's display file. The code has been patched so that whenever the ZX81 display file has been updated its contents are rendered into an equivalent image in the Spectrum's display file.
A video of the converted game can be found on YouTube:

Re: Mazogs for the ZX80
Mazogs on the ZX81 is the reason for me being in this forum.
I begun with a Spectrum and was only vaguely interested on the ZX81 since I saw that game!
Those blinking "eyes" and the big "sprites" used to give enough detail were such a smart idea that I immediately understood how stimulating was the challenge to bring a machine over its limits.
At the time consoles like the Mattel Intellivision were producing good games in low resolution, but they had great sound and colors.. Mazogs was as much funny and addictive with no sound and lower B/W resolution!
I dreamt to have this exact version on the Spectrum (the original conversion was good but too "normal") and now I have it.. the ZX80 port was beyond any expectation for me.
I must have told already, but another port exists for an obscure tiny computer produced in the DDR, I think it was the Robotron Z9001 (KC/1, KC/87)... anyway, well done !

Re: Mazogs for the ZX80
I've fixed a nasty bug in the port of Mazogs for the ZX80 that would randomly cause the game to crash. I've produced a fix for this and uploaded the new version of the game to my website. It can be downloaded using the link provided in this thread's original posting.
