Yet another ROM adapter

Post by mooredan »

This handles standard 27128 and 27256 pinouts, plugs into the 24pin ROM socket (don't know if it still fits in the case, but if it doesn't, I sure that soldering the adapter in place of the socket, things will fit).

First thought about a perfboard solution, but then found that PCB manufacturing is really cheap nowadays. I got 10 of these for $4.95 + $18 shipping from China:

Loaded "Shoulders of Giants", Forth and original ROMs onto a 27256 and tested -- all is well.

My plan is to run A13 over to the board and start filling up the extra 8KB with useful routines, like a device driver for a CF storage (lofty ideas).

Now. A bare board is available immediately. $4 plus shipping (which could be really cheap if you're in the U.S. -- I'll just throw it in an envelope 1st class mail).

Am in the UK so I suspect it will get expensive!

As I'm interested as well, can I suggest that two boards be sent to one of us. Based on other bare PCBs that I have received, I estimate the cost to be less than $5 postage to the UK. Then once they are in the UK, we can mail them between ourselves.

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb :!:
Looking forward to summer later in the year.

Id be i8nterested in two boards if they are still available.

I followed the link below but the Buy Now button just took me to my Paypal account. Could you advise of total cost inc. shipping to the UK?

Very nice. I make it 4 people interested from the UK as I'm now throwing my hat into the ring too - should we organise a group buy to save on postage?

*edit* having had a look around my usual suppliers I think the smt machined pin header might be an issue. Could you please tell us the brand/supplier or perhaps even supply the pins?
