It was put there for visual reasons originally but when I decided to split the character sets then it was a very convenient place to sink the cycles ;)

I have tried your great software on real ZX81 and I can happily report that it works with:
  • UDG 4 ZXpand/ZXblast with set jumper to CHR$128
  • ZXblast with RAM enabled in 8k-64k

Superb Charlie absolutely superb. Smooth as silk. :ugeek:
Pity Eighty Ones AY is borked as the final sonar ping at the title tunes end sounds kerap. (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it)

Big hats off to Andy also sterling work as always. :ugeek:

Look forward to our next collaboration. :D

sirmorris wrote: Tue Dec 19, 2017 11:44 pm There is some cheat-style help for those (like me!) that don't do games very well. Pressing 0 during play will toggle infinite lives. The zone last reached is stored in ZXpand's EEPROM along with the high score when the game ends, and you can skip levels you've already completed by pressing 1 during play. You will re-spawn at the selected zone.
Good job Sirmorris ! Its one of my favourire game! Does the computer need to be specially configured using zx-pand? Music loads after loading, but the game is completely unreadable.

Great!

But the next version should also have a network interface (ZeddyNet), that someone else in the world could control the destroyers

We had a discussion about such a network game some months ago in Tom's forum:
