Hello all
my name is Robert and I am from Vienna, Austria. I was born in 1973 and I work as a software engineer.
I collect old computers and enjoy using them occasionally. My collection comprises the usual suspects: ZX81, VIC-20, 800XL, C128, Amiga (the 1000 model!), ST, QL, TI-99/4A, two MSX models, and a Schneider Euro PC. The last one is the one I used to like most in recent years, but recently my ZX81 has gained some popularity...
Why am I here? A few weeks ago I have "revived" my ZX81 by obtaining a Chroma Interface and a ZXC4 cart, and since then my ZX81 has been in almost permanent use.
A little story from my childhood: I didn't own a ZX81 back in the 1980s (for years I couldn't persuade my dad to buy me any computer), but I saw it in a catalogue as a kid and immediately liked its design. As the photo showed only the machine and nothing else, I had no idea about its size, so for a long time I thought that it was about the size of a small typewriter. I was very surprised to see how tiny the ZX81 was when I saw it in a shopping window for the first time!
Hi from Austria
Re: Hi from Austria
Welcome aboard, Robert. We also play with some TS1000s, which is an American version of the ZX81, and TS1500s.
Cheers,
