Good to be here!
Good to be here!
greetings all,
It's taken me a while to get here but I've finally got myself a ZX81. Back in the day from '83 I had an Acorn Electron, then a C64 in about '89 or '90, then the Amiga. Later on I got myself a Speccy 48k but I've always wanted to try the earlier machines... I love that aspect of the early days of home computing that really pushed the boundaries and people found ways to achieve so much with the tools that they had.
I never got further than BASIC (I still do some messing around in basic on my Electron), and I am looking forward to learning the ways of the ZX81.
Got a ZX81 on the way, no bells or whistles, but I plan to do some upgrading over time and look forward to seeing what the modern day wizards have put together for the machine!

zxooner, great that you joined this forum. If you want to make a step forward from Basic but ASM is too difficult for you (as it is for me), then you could try developing in C using z88dk.

Being a Timex Sinclair 1000 user, I only recently upgraded to the much faster ZX81 UK version. With an increase in speed that warrants the shipping cost across the pond!
