New ZX81 Games
Re: New ZX81 Games
I noticed an error in the movement of the dogcatcher.
Altered is better, but I need some more.
New version will follow later.

New ZX81 Games : APPLEPIE
Name of Software: APPLEPIE
Author: Johan "Dr Beep" Koelman
Release Date: 18/09/2021
Requirements (eg. 1K, 16K, AY Card, Hi-Res Scheme): 1K hires
Description:
Bake pies and clean up eaten apples
APPLEPIE
Ever since I started coding 1K hires games I wanted to make something like APPLEJAM
from the ZX Spectrum as a 1K hires game.
Although the gameplay is a bit different I think I made a game that is worth as
a simplified version of APPLEJAM on the ZX Spectrum.
The displayroutine from MAKE-A-SHIT allows 2 characters beside the bas character on a line.
This is what I need for this game as well. Due to the amount of memory needed the screen
itself became smaller, but the same base is used.
The gameplay:
You are a baker and you need to bake applepies.
Apples are all over the place and each displayed apple is enough for a pie.
You can carry apples for 5 pies. When you try to carry more it is game over.
It is also game over when the rat bites you or the rat has eaten on 5 apples.
Finally it is game over when you bake a pie with an apple that is eaten by the rat.
An eaten apple is shown inverted. To prevent 5 apples eaten by the rat you need to bin the
eaten apples. The bin is on the left uppercorner. In the right uppercorner the oven is shown.
You dump apples in the bin or in the oven by moving up when under the bin or oven.
Each binned apple (also good apples) will give you 1 point. Apples in the oven will give you
10 points.
Controls:
Q = up
A = down
O = left
P = right
NL = start

Yes, I altered a base setup due to not enough memory, but I won a few bytes so I can make it as it was.

Re: New ZX81 Games
Still no joy even with the apple2.p file. Anyone else having this issue on real hardware? Thing is, Johan's 1k Qfrogger is the best version since the world of ZX81 frogger clones began so I gotta try every game he does!

Cause could be the timing of the intrupt.Its1982again wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 10:41 pm Still no joy even with the apple2.p file. Anyone else having this issue on real hardware? I delayed the intrupt a bit more.
Hope this will do.

Re: New ZX81 Games
Working and a great little game. The screen is actually larger than I expected too. Thanks again to our resident 1K genius Dr Beep!
